Today marks our first Father's Day as a family of 3. I've loved watching Reed become a father, and a great one at that. E and I wanted to do something special for the occasion, so we made her dad and Grandpa a special gift.. baby footprint art!
We got some 8x10 canvasses and acrylic paint from a local craft store. We spent about $9 on the two canvasses and $2 on the paint (I just got yellow and turquoise). First, we painted two coats of turquoise for the background, letting the first coat dry before we did the second coat.
Next was the hard part, the footprints. I painted some paint onto E's foot and then did my best to press it down onto the canvas. It was pretty tricky as she was kind of apprehensive and squirmy during the creative process. They turned out ok though, even though I had to use my finger to add a few toes that didn't show up very well.
After the footprints, we added the letters. I used a paint brush for the letters (in two coats), but I think it would probably look better to use a paint pen. As you can see in the first picture up top, I also added a little signature to make it more personalized.
Eden sure loves her Daddy and sleeping on his chest.
Happy Father's Day to all the Father's out there!
