Easy DIY Project: Fabric Covered Canvases

Ah, nursery crafts. I've had so much fun coming up with ideas to decorate this special space. My stepmom and I had a great time picking fabrics for a baby quilt a family friend is making for the baby. While we were looking for fabrics, we got some extra pieces to decorate the wall with fabric covered canvases. Luckily, my dad had a staple gun, so it was super easy and we love how they turned out!

We got a variety of canvas sizes for visual interest. We found them at JoAnn Fabrics, all were half off (they're always having a sale) and between $4-$9 each. The fabric squares were small samples we found at random, quilting stores.

Step 1: Cut the fabric pieces to fit the canvas, not leaving more than two inches or so of fabric on all sides.

Step 2: Iron the fabric piece so it lays nice and smooth.

Step 3: We used tape to hold the fabric piece down while we stapled around the edges, it helped.

See? Super easy! (As long as you have a staple gun)

The baby's room is coming together little by little. It's been such a fun project! Next on the list: organize baby clothes and put together the rocking chair. Luckily, Reed is good at assembling things and following written instructions..

Have a great Wednesday!

  2. Love!! My brother in law does this with t-shirts and sells them on etsy. This is so cute, Rachel, and I'm glad you posted this because I was just thinking yesterday that I really want to get a canvas to make a sign and didn't want to spend a lot of money on them.

  3. This looks so cool!
