As I mentioned in my last update, R and I went on a long weekend trip to New York City for the first time over the weekend! We figured it was a great time to go - after the strong summer heat and before it got too cold.
R had some Hilton points from all the traveling he does through work, so we got a free night at the Hilton Garden Inn in Chelsea. We decided it was worth it to stay there the other two nights as well because it was a great location for walking places and jumping on the Subway and also because it happened to be in the Flower District - how fun is that?
We took a river tour down the Hudson where we learned a lot and saw Ellis Island, the new World Trade Center, the Brooklyn Bridge and of course, the Statue of Liberty herself. We had amazing weather that was just the icing on the cake of a great weekend.
I got this dress from Jessica's sister Nicole at our most recent swap (detailed here). It is so comfortable and I'm in love with the pattern and colors. This picture and the one on top were taken in Central Park which is just beautiful. Funny side note - I totally spotted the Love Taza family with a big group of other city moms in Central Park! Of all the people in New York, how weird is that?
If you saw any of my intagrams from the weekend, you may have noticed we ate at Shake Shack. You need to know that the fried mushroom burger with melted swiss cheese inside is simply heavenly. Some other cool things we did: went to the Brooklyn Flea, went to Ground Zero, walked around Time Square, explored Greenwich Village, and ate legit Malaysian in China Town, New York Style Pizza and giant, delicious bagels. We also went into Patricia Field's Shop in NOHO and I got the coolest wig for Halloween!
We packed a lot in over one weekend and are so glad we did. The 7 hour drive was well worth it. I can't wait to go back, what a great city!
