To cut or not to cut?

So I haven't had more than a trim since May of 2010. It was a major cut - similar to this style. It wasn't a style I wanted to get, but more a cut of necessity.

Prior to the cut, my hair was about shoulder length and needed a trim. Just a trim though, I was trying to grow it out.

I thought, how hard can just a trim be?

So I asked Reed to give me just a little trim. He refused at first, but I talked him into it.

Big mistake. BIG. Mistake.

I guess those cosmetologists don't go to hair school for nothin' - he could not get it even! So shorter and shorter it got until finally we agreed to put down the scissors and consult a professional.

They laughed and said in order to even it up, they would need to take off quite a bit.

Yep, so that's that story!

Anyway - now it's 3.5 years later and my hair is long! See?

I really like it long and it's been a lot of fun. However.. I'm getting kind of bored! I hate to say it because I've been so strong in not cutting it. I did the red thing (see?) and it did the trick for a few months but I got bored of that too (and sick of dying it every few weeks).

I've been toying with the idea of cutting it. I know I'm a few months late - big chops are supposed to come before summer not directly after. Maybe I will wait until next summer and have enough to donate without going too short..

Anyway here are some cuts I love!

Decisions, decisions...

Happy Saturday!

  1. I chopped mine earlier this year and actually used the photograph above of Olivia Palermo (lady style crush) as a reference. I love it! I used to be all about framing my face but I love my hair as one long layer!

  2. I really like number one or two, and I think they'd look amazing on you! I always get hair boredom during the winter, which is a bad time to cut it. I think you're fine to try a new look in the fall! :)

  3. I went through the same thing last month and actually pinned some really similar haircuts. I just went for it and am so pleased I did. In fact I'm thinking of going a bit shorter next time! Ive got a hair inspiration board that you might like too! Its similar to yours above :-)

  5. Ha ha ha I can't believe he tried to cut your hair! Hahah! This reminds of the time I asked my boyfriend to braid my hair because we were on the beach and it was a matted mess. I think you would look beautiful with long or short hair, all of these are gorgeous cuts.

  6. Number three (Ashley Benson) is my hair idol! I think you look great with both long/short/medium. You have one of those faces! Maybe instead of chopping it off, get new bangs? I don't know. I just love long hair and I am still like only a year into my growth, so yeah, I'm jealous.

  7. oh your hair looks super cute short in that pin you linked to! so i think all of those short/med styles are super cute, but i always feel like they look great bcuz they actually styled them that way... i guess most women style their hair though and i just don't. your long hair looks stunning to me though and that'd be so kind if you donated it.
