How to Get Newspaper Nails

Have you seen these 'newspaper nails' around the blogosphere/pinterest? I've been wanting to try this for a few months and finally did the other night! I did some research online and found this video.

It suggested to use light gray nail polish, but I decided to try it with some other colors. Luckily, my friend Michelle has quite the collection of OPI nail polish, including Stranger Tides (from the Pirates of the Caribbean Collection) and Fiercely Fiona from the Shrek Forever After Brights Collection.

On each hand I did 4 of the nails Stranger Tides and one accent nail Fiercely Fiona (a different accent nail on each hand because I'm crazy like that).

*Do a few coats of polish and then let them dry completely - if you don't the newspaper will stick in the coming steps!

*Have a small cup of rubbing alcohol and strips of newspaper ready

*After the color completely dries, dip your nail into the rubbing alcohol for a few seconds.

*Take it out and place the newspaper on top of your nail for at least 15 seconds - hold it still!

*After a good 15+ seconds, the newspaper ink should have transferred to your nail. Let it dry then paint a clear topcoat on top (otherwise the ink will rub off).

Easy, right?

Mine doesn't look perfect but for a first-time try, I'll take it.

If you try it, let me know and I'll link it up on this post!

Happy Friday :)
