High Waisted White Pants and a weekend DIY project

Pants: Thrifted, Top: Old Navy, Belt: Ann Taylor Loft, Hat: Kohls, Watch: Thrifted, Bracelet: Garage Sale, Shoes: Target (Plato's Closet)

These are the same high-waisted white pants I wore here. They are so comfortable and soft but
the only problem is they get really wrinkly (especially after I wear them all day and then take pictures). I promise I even ironed them that morning.. and I never iron <and by never I really do mean never. It's so tedious.>

Yesterday we were so productive with the decorating - I know I have a family blog for the more 'personal' stuff.. but I figure decorating has a lot to do with style too, right?

I finally hung my plate wall in the dining room! I had a plate wall in our last place that I loved..

See?

I knew I definitely wanted to do a similar plate wall in our new dining room.. but this time around I went with a "warm color" theme. The living room is two tones of light blue and my accent color is yellow. Last week I went to the Goodwill and got a few more yellowy patterned plates:

Notice the sewing machine on the table above? Proof that I intended to get some projects done yesterday.. < but I ended up running out of time before we went to my dad's>.

See that yellowy tree? It started off bronze and yesterday I painted it yellow. First I painted it with the same yellow I'm using in our kitchen.. then I used a darker, more gold toned yellow spray paint to light go over some areas and add some visual interest.

Fun right? I love a good DIY project. :)

And how much cooler is it to re-purpose old decorations to fit your new color scheme than it is to go buy new stuff? Just saying.

Happy Monday!

  3. I really adore this outfit! You look so darn cute in these highwaisted pants... but it must not be warm where you live because I can never stand to wear pants in the summer time! Whew!

P.S. I just love your straw fedora, too :D

  8. I love the outfit! The pants don't even look too bad wrinkled, and they look really good with the shirt. I really like your plate wall. I think it's a brilliant idea, and all of yours are very pretty. My mom did a similar thing as you with gold spray paint and some candles that she put in some water with a few flowers in a large glass bowl. She had them on the table during Thanksgiving and got tons of compliments. Your tree looks really beautiful and brand new!

  9. Love the monochromatic look of your outfit. I have pants similar to yours and no matter what I do (short of standing still the whole time I wear them), they ALWAYS get sooo wrinkly.

Congrats on a productive decorating day. Everything looks gorgeous. Those plates are one of a kind!

  12. Your outfit is so summery and beautiful! Fabric that wrinkles easily is no fun... like linen. I pretty much avoid it like the plague. I also love your DIY and how you grouped the plates up! Great idea!

  14. I love your decor - the wall of plates looks amazing! I also really like what you did with the tree. I have been searching high and low for the perfect metal decoration for my dining room wall. You've inspired me to try and restyle something for that space!
