Excitement: New Sewing Machine!

The other day the husband came home with the *best* garage-sale-find ever.. an old school sewing table and sewing machine combo! It still works and the sewing machine part tucks down into the table if one wanted to store it that way.

We're not sure exactly how old it is.. but the girl who was selling it told him it was her grandmothers. When he went to pick it up the girls mother said he should feel lucky because she had told her daughter not to take anything less than $75 for the set (it wasn't priced, they were just accepting offers - my kinda sale!). He only offered $40 and she'd accepted. Score!

The chair pad opens up for extra storage - love that!

Inside the seat there were some cool accessories and I found this awesome old envelope:

The table has some extra storage on the side too:

Isn't it fun?!

Now I can finally give the machine back that I've been borrowing. I can't wait to start using it! Two awesome people gave me sewing books for my birthday too! They have some great ideas inside I can't wait to try.

*Excitement!*

  1. That is an awesome find! I just inherited an old sewing machine from my hubby's grandma. I looked it up on ebay and they are still selling for $400-500, so I'm guessing it's a good model to keep around. However, the most impressive thing about your post is that your hubby was at a yard sale of his own free will. Impressive!

  6. Wow! That is such the epic sewing machine/table/chair set!! I love all the storage components, and I agree with Charlotte, definitely very sweet that your husband thought to do this all on his own! Brownie points for that! :D Can't wait to see some of your finished projects featured on your blog!
